While local buses and regional trains connect some of the major towns (like Lecce, Gallipoli, and Otranto), many of the best beaches and hidden coves are not accessible by public transport. Renting a car is highly recommended for flexibility and ease of movement. Additionally, I recommend exploring Porto Venere, located nearby and sharing a similar charm.</p><h3><strong>Exploration</strong></h3><p>✈️ <strong>By Plane:</strong> The closest airports to Cinque Terre are <strong>Pisa International Airport (Galileo Galilei)</strong> and <strong>Genoa Cristoforo Colombo Airport</strong>. To simplify your journey and save on individual ticket costs, you can purchase the <strong>Cinque Terre Treno MS Card</strong> online, which grants unlimited train travel within the area. </p><p>🚶‍♂️<strong>On Foot:</strong> While no ticket is required to simply wander through the villages, <strong>hiking</strong> the scenic trails between them does involve a fee during the high season, from March 16th to November 3rd. One of the most famous trails is the Cinque Terre <strong>Via dell’Amore</strong>, an easy and much-celebrated path that connects Riomaggiore and Manarola. </p><p>👉 Access to this particular trail requires a separate ticket, known as the <a data-mce-href="https://www.viadellamore.info/en" href="https://www.viadellamore.info/en" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Via dell’Amore ticket</a>🔗, which also includes the standard trekking card — it’s not possible to buy a Via dell’Amore ticket on its own. Tickets can be booked online by selecting a specific time slot.
